Abigail Harrison is a graduate of The University of Texas at Tyler where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a concentration in ceramics.
Her work depicts commentary on the human condition, and especially communication in its many forms. Themes include perception, symbolic archetypes, and celebration of color. Emanation and absorption of energy is related to the interaction between a body and the space it exists in. Space, both physical and metaphysical, is an integral component of the energy and transformation of a being. This relates to the physical and metaphysical bodies, and psychological state; while living from moment to moment, day to day, and year to year.

Materials that reflect or absorb light, density of space within a composition, and the boundaries of how these elements relate to each other are an inspiration.
The many forms of written and spoken language are a heavy influence. What is language? How and why do we use words, symbols, and sounds that send and receive signals? What is the origin of the energy and information that is being transmitted? These are some of the questions that she asks and which her work speaks to.

Raised in a severely restrictive religious cult in Waco, Texas, my life began in a void that consisted of only the cult / church.  My family left the cult when I was 13 years old. Over the years since escaping Waco, I have discovered many different cultures and ways of being, and forged my own way. My experieces have created a divergent perspective, which I am now proud to own. Art is life, and the real miracle in my life is that I am still creating art.

Abi currently lives on Maui with her son and her precious, well-behaved Angora / Holland lop rabbit. A representative of the feline species also graciously adorned the artist and her family with his presence.
