My work depicts commentary on the human condition, and especially communication in its many forms, which is a main theme of being human, and also just a big part of being; whether one is human or not. What is communication? How and why do we use words, symbols, and sounds that send and receive signals? What is the origin of the energy and information that is being transmitted? Emanation and absorption of energy or signals is related to the interactions between people and the space they exist in. Imprints of these signals may linger forever, or disappear immediately, depending on the perception of the experiencer.

Ideograms, stamps, imprints, symbols, tokens, signs, glyphs, numerals, seals, flags and badges are common examples of communications that have many layers, and the work I make is reminiscent of such things. Symmetry, mathematics, materials that reflect or absorb light, density, movement and other elements are present in my work.

My work is heavily influenced by my dreams, so I keep in progress work hung in my bedroom. The liminal space between sleeping and waking is often where I make a decision about design. I often look at my in progress work in a mirror, which I find stimulates alternate thought processes.
